Here’s a great collaboration that came out yesterday. Mariah Carey grabs MMG rappers Rick Ross + Meek Mill for her song Triumphant. The trio actually works extremely well together as they battle their demons in the metaphor of a boxing match. They all are decked out in furs and expensive clothing as they sing about their demons and struggle. Meek Mill actually plays the boxer in this video, physically beating up his competition.
While Rozay and Meek Mill lay down their tongue-in-cheek raps about riches and women, Carey provides the melodic chorus as she puts on her Rihanna hat. Gotta say, Mariah Carey is a much better “hook-stress” than Rihanna. Although that may be due to the fact that Mariah is one of the best singers of our generation and Rihanna is well…a model with a lot of good engineering. Anyway, nice to see Mariah back in action (she looks better than ever) and I hope to see her in more of these roles. We do have to thank women like Rihanna who have helped to make singing on hooks a profitable business. Yes, you remember “I Love The Way You Lie”. So, thank you Rihanna, for that at least.
